Tyra Banks

Celeb autobiography are a dime a dozen these days, but supermodel-turned-TV personality Tyra Banks is joining a somewhat exceptional club: superstars who have become novelists.

Banks, 36, has just entered a three-book deal with Random House. The series of novels, titled “Modelland,” will be designed at young adults. The sequence will feature models with special powers, however Banks has said several characters might be based on people she is familiar with.

While it is exceptional for superstars to pen works of fiction, it is far from unheard of. One little-known superstar novelist is Bill O’Reilly — that’s right, the guy from Fox News — who in 1998 published a murder novel called “Those Who Trespass.” Another is musician Jimmy Buffett, who in 2004 published an American westerner titled, “A Salty Piece of Land.”
